It seems unlikely to me that Revit LT will truly serve any notion of BIM other than " lonely BIM ". Sure we benefit from the modelling effort in architecture and structure but we can still benefit from the effort without them. Why assume that there is no value in creating a model of the MEP scope of work even if the architect doesnt use Revit? Modeling a project reveals more than doing one in 2D. Builds and Updates.

In this image the massing has been created aligned with the "site" but weve realized that it would be easier to document if Project North were aligned along one building edge. These divisions, while relevant to the architectural model, are ruining the possibilities of creating gbXML files without extensive work on the part of the engineer to remove the room separation lines, and then repair the damage done to the room names and numbers. Joe - in the examples he offered it isn't "poor" modeling.

Wall Floor Interaction and Linked Models. When we have architecture and structure in separate Revit models we end up with somewhat clumsy graphics in wall sections. This is more pronounced if the structural slab is in the structure model only. The issue is the same when interior walls are linked into a shell model.

This information has been sitting in my inbox for a week now. Autodesk Vasari Beta 1 is a slimmed down version of Revit 2013 focusing on conceptual modeling and early analysis. Detailed BIM modeling tools have been removed. I have read that in Vasari, one can edit a model in perspective view. Builds and Updates.

They recently announced that theyre offering a software solution to bring 3D as-built models of pipes and other cylindrical MEP elements directly into Revit. The whole model is still there, just not visible, thatll provide some relief for performance sake. Recently I was working with a team, their building is a million square feet overall, and opening the whole file took considerably longer than selectively focusing on a single sectors workset. I used a pair of model lines (assigned to Invisible) to govern the location of the arc and line endpoints. In the thread at AUGI the member that started it all replied that he figured out how to solve it after reading a post at BIM & BEAM. What you describe as working doesn't work on the model lines in my example.

It was meant to make it simple to alter the appearance of our model to be more in sync with what a structural engineer wants to see.
