When MEP (Systems as it was called then) appeared a year later they extended the concept to Mechanical and Electrical (plumbing lumped in with Mechanical till release 2013). When Mechanical is assigned Revit changes the nature of what plan and reflected plan mean. The concept of View Discipline appeared with Revit Structure.

Then again I could just select multiple views in the project browser and apply them. With Revit 2013 my view templates will adjust all those details as soon as I change the template, or at least they can if I set it up that way. Further, views can be tied to view templates and have changes to a view template take effect immediately in a view or many views. We can apply a view template like before, just to make a change or we can assign a view template to the view so that it will alter the view without the past extra step of applying the view template.

Revit 2013 changes the means to reduce the overall size of the text displayed in a dimension string, particularly noticeable to people using imperial units. It was tied to the project units and you had to alter a dimension style to not use the project units settings in order to use it. of Echo - Don't use the Basic Ceiling.

A few changes have been made this year as to how the updates are accessed. Improves stability when opening projects from previous versions of Revit. Improves performance of opening and closing sketch mode in projects with many families. Improves stability when drag and drop a DWG file into a Revit project.

Rooms and areas can be deleted in model views like floor plans and ceiling plans. That is intended to make it easier to place them elsewhere in the model without having to recreate them from scratch if their current location needs to be changed. Seems to me that we can already browse all the rooms in a project, just in a schedule view.

Related to this is the notion that there are representations that wed like to control for floor plan orientation and offer a different appear for the reflected ceiling plan (RCP) version.
