When MEP (Systems as it was called then) appeared a year later they extended the concept to Mechanical and Electrical (plumbing lumped in with Mechanical till release 2013). Rooms and areas can be deleted in model views like floor plans and ceiling plans. We can also create rooms and areas in a schedule view before there are any walls or boundaries available to define where they should go. Related to this is the notion that there are representations that wed like to control for floor plan orientation and offer a different appear for the reflected ceiling plan (RCP) version.
