Dont define materials in families, define material parameters instead (or possibly sub-categories) as much as possible so materials can be assigned in a project, where they really matter. Dont include parameters in families that dont change geometry, instead put them in project templates and apply them to the categories they affect.

This is more pronounced if the structural slab is in the structure model only. It's a little easier to manage than reveals. Managing all the reveals could be a coordination nightmare.

This means your dimension styles can continue to depend on the Project Units as well as suppress the spaces in dimension values.
