The concept of View Discipline appeared with Revit Structure. It was meant to make it simple to alter the appearance of our model to be more in sync with what a structural engineer wants to see. When Mechanical is assigned Revit changes the nature of what plan and reflected plan mean. Electrical - Same as Mechanical.

The first button is effectively acknowledging the changed family but preserving values that we may have entered or altered in the project, they may be different from the original family. Ive seen confusion with this result in uncomfortable changes. This kind of change should have been done with the "first choice". Egress Paths.

The problems are with autodesk's management of the software and of the paying client base, who are always secondary to the shareholders. How many revit 2013 changes (I can't call them all improvements) address AUGI wishlist items? I think we're just at the beginning of massive change in the industry. The soluton?
