A proposed bill before the Las Vegas City Council would allow any building built before 2009 undergoing a renovation to only have to meet the energy code requirements at the time of initial construction, not the current, stricter guidelines. Codes Codes and Standards'

A high-performance roof system is durable, resilient, and allows a building to be occupied after a disaster event and continues performing during a loss of power. A green roof could be used to mitigate the urban heat island effect. Building science matters. The roof is an essential component of the building enclosure.
