It seems unlikely to me that Revit LT will truly serve any notion of BIM other than " lonely BIM ". When Revit Systems was released in 2006, the essence of Autodesks marketing commentary was, "this is new software so it probably doesnt make sense to tackle a project with it unless the architecture team is using Revit too." These divisions, while relevant to the architectural model, are ruining the possibilities of creating gbXML files without extensive work on the part of the engineer to remove the room separation lines, and then repair the damage done to the room names and numbers. Joe - in the examples he offered it isn't "poor" modeling.

In this image the massing has been created aligned with the "site" but weve realized that it would be easier to document if Project North were aligned along one building edge. I included the following tips and advice (edited a little in this version) in a door tutorial I wrote for my Autodesk University 2005 lab called "Autodesk Revit Building Family Editor: From the Beginning". Make a system type parameter into an instance parameter, select dimension with a label in view, check instance parameter in option bar.

The whole model is still there, just not visible, thatll provide some relief for performance sake. Recently I was working with a team, their building is a million square feet overall, and opening the whole file took considerably longer than selectively focusing on a single sectors workset. This information has been sitting in my inbox for a week now. Autodesk Vasari Beta 1 is a slimmed down version of Revit 2013 focusing on conceptual modeling and early analysis. Detailed BIM modeling tools have been removed. I have read that in Vasari, one can edit a model in perspective view. Builds and Updates.

They recently announced that theyre offering a software solution to bring 3D as-built models of pipes and other cylindrical MEP elements directly into Revit. I used a pair of model lines (assigned to Invisible) to govern the location of the arc and line endpoints. In the thread at AUGI the member that started it all replied that he figured out how to solve it after reading a post at BIM & BEAM. What you describe as working doesn't work on the model lines in my example.

The first book is Mastering Autodesk Revit Structure 2010 (Wiley/Sybex). That could mean structural engineers are too smart for it, or just werent interested in a book, or that the authors, editors and publisher didnt do a good enough job marketing it, or that it just wasnt very good.
