The award was fittingly presented to the Adair County Commission in the historic 1917 Missouri State Capital along the banks of the Missouri River in Jefferson City, Missouri. The architectural integrity of Adair’s courthouse is a testament to the craftsmanship of a bygone era, making its preservation paramount.

Designed by The Architectural Team (TAT), the $39.2 million building meets the current energy codes and the National Park Service’s historic preservation guidelines. Each of the 86 apartment units features large window openings and integrates existing historical elements, such as exposed original wood beam ceilings.

Floor-to-ceiling glass at the entry and along the length of the back façade blur the line between interior and exterior and frame views of the courtyard water feature at the front and the deck and landscaped yard at the back. A gently curved staircase links the main and upper levels and is complemented by a curving wicker chandelier.

A heritage building is any structure of sufficient age that it retains some historical value within the city. A heritage building doesn’t need to be 100 years old, but it should have some form of historical value. Buildings as recent as the 70s, 80s and 90s can have historical value and can be considered heritage.

The site is situated on the outskirts of South Mountain Park Preserve, allowing for sweeping views of the diverse desert landscape and surrounding mountain vistas, while maintaining easy access to Arizona State University (ASU) and Phoenix’s Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX). Once our crew got the pattern down, installation was a breeze.”

With the former meatpacking facility, we’re making significant modifications to the building’s floor plates, such as increasing the existing 11-foot ceiling clearances – which were appropriate for the building’s original use, but are too low for the expectations of today’s commercial space tenants.
