The upgrade includes a new boarding assistance zone, new lifts, a new footbridge and concourse, and improved accessible public toilets. Two new lifts at Tuggerah were opened in October 2024 as the two-year project progressed. This is the first upgrade at Tuggerah since ramps and a footbridge were added in 1988.

Nearly a kilometre worth of bridges and ramps will be erected in the coming weeks as works on the West Gate Tunnel project in Victoria enters the next stages. Over the next eight weeks, workers will build the bridge structure that arches over the intersection from the ground up, lifting and installing the huge steel beams.

The new plans include installing a pedestrian overpass with a passenger lift and stairs to both platforms (see image below).
