Slowdown in Housing Starts Continues in July

Housing starts continued to decline in July in both the single-family and multifamily sectors. According to the Calculated Risk blog, privately-owned housing starts were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.24 million as of July, down 6.8% from June and down by 16% from the year prior. Single-family housing starts decreased to a rate of 851,000, compared with 991,000 the month prior.
