The green light was finally granted on Friday following a long-running planning saga. Planning permission for the scheme was originally granted in 2020 but was quashed by the High Court in 2021 following a campaign by local residents.

Washington, D.C. – Based on the Commerce Department’s most recent Steel Import Monitoring and Analysis (SIMA) data, the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported today that steel import permit applications for the month of June totaled 2,804,000 net tons (NT)*. This was a 12.8% increase from the 2,485,000 permit tons recorded in May and a 20.8% increase from the May final imports total of 2,320,000.
