National Grid Electricity Transmission has fired the starting gun on what will be one of the biggest tender races this year for the construction industry. The power distributor is planning to shake-up its delivery model for infrastructure in what will be its largest investment programme in generations. Opting for a collaborative procurement model, The Great Grid Upgrade Partnership will be split into two major lots: covering consultancy and construction works.

Luton Town FC is aiming to start groundworks for its planned new 23,500-capacity stadium before the end of the year. Nuclear decommissioning client Magnox has started the tender race for major demolition work at its former Trawsfynydd nuclear site in Gwynedd, North Wales. As part of the ongoing decommissioning of the site, Magnox has started the bid race for the complex project to reduce the height of the site’s 55m tall reactor buildings by around a third. The shortening work represents a significant milestone in the programme to safely and sustainably decommission the site.

Glencar has confirmed securing the job to build a 240,000 sq ft warehouse facility at Alexandra Docks within Peel Ports Port of Liverpool development. The £28m facility at the Alexandra Dock site is the biggest single warehousing investment at the Port of Liverpool over the last six years.
